Technology
The launch monitor is the heart of every golf simulator: it measures ball and club data and uses it to calculate the ball flight. Which technology is right for you depends primarily on where you play.
High-speed cameras capture the ball and clubhead directly at impact. Ideal for indoor simulators, as no long ball flight is needed for measurement.
Radar tracks the ball over a longer distance and measures the actual ball flight. Particularly strong for outdoor training and in larger rooms.

Which values are recorded depends on the model. Clubhead data is primarily provided by upper-end camera systems and TrackMan.

A launch monitor measures ball data and, depending on the model, club data during the shot – such as Ball Speed, Launch Angle and spin – and uses this to calculate the ball flight. It is the centerpiece of every golf simulator and a precise training tool.
Both have their strengths. Camera systems measure directly at Impact and are particularly suitable for indoor simulators with limited space. Radar systems track the ball flight and demonstrate their strengths outdoors and in larger rooms.
For a permanent home simulator, ceiling-mounted camera systems such as Uneekor or ProTee VX are particularly popular because they require little space and do not stand in the swing area. For beginners or mobile training, compact devices such as Square Golf, SKYTRAK or FlightScope Mevo are a good choice.
That depends on the system. Camera systems require less room depth, while radar systems need more distance behind the ball indoors. For a complete simulator, we recommend a room height of at least 2,7 m – we would be happy to check your room during a consultation.
Many launch monitors come with their own app or software. For virtual golf courses, additional software packages or subscriptions are required depending on the model. During the consultation, we will tell you exactly what is required for your device.
